Please describe your relevant analytical skills. I have worked at Capital Metro for 14 years and am in charge of the Innovative Mobility division. It is my job to analyze new ways of providing mobility options to the people within the community. This involves making data driven decisions while also having a dialogue with the community centered on what their specific needs are.
Please describe your ability to be impartial. I have worked at Capital Metro for 14 years and during that time I have attended hundreds if not thousands of public meetings where we are charged with gathering community input. We not only gather that input but we also listen to the community and take action based on what we hear. To do this well you must be impartial. Everyone's voice must be heard.
Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. The diversity of this city is a vital part of keeping the soul of this city. We have lost a portion of our African American population an that is an issue the city should address. No matter how people feel about the protests surrounding the death of George Floyd, the outpouring of the community into the streets shows how many people in this city stand up for diversity. One bright note, we have done well with supporting a large and vibrant LGBTQ+ community.
Please provide your employment history. I have worked at Capital Metro for 14 years. I am currently the VP of Demand Response and Innovative Mobility. One of my major roles is to run the MetroAccess ADA paratransit service for Capital Metro. This is a service for people with disabilities who are unable to use the fixed route bus or rail service. We provide access and freedom to thousands of Austin residents who would otherwise be isolated at home. Our customers are now able to access groceries, doctors, employment and much more on their terms. I love that my job allows me to help people.
Please provide any other information you wish to be considered during the selection of the most qualified applicants for the Commission. I am an informed citizen with no hidden agenda for this process. I love Austin and wish to give back to my community in a different way than I have in the past. I have years of experience listening to members of the public and synthesizing their feedback into actionable changes.
