Please describe your relevant analytical skills. I’ve been a journalist in the past, in Tallahassee, at the local and state level. I understand the importance of representation at all levels and have looked at many systems of district drawing. Inclusion is an important political goal.

Please describe your ability to be impartial. I believe deeply in impartiality and have been willing to stand firm even when a friend or family member is involved. I also served on a jury in NY many years ago and was willing to find a man not guilty because I believed the officer involved in his arrest to have arrested the wrong man.

Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. Austin is the most amazing city I have ever lived in, and in the 15 years I’ve lived here, I’ve come to love it like no other. From Dove Springs in the southeast to Balcones club in the northwest, all of it is special and filled with people I like and respect. The neighborhoods have very different needs sometimes, and because of that they need councilors that will be representative of those needs, and dedicated to addressing them. The East Side of Austin in particular has been shortchanged in the past, and health care infrastructure and better schools and parks are critically important in those areas.
Please provide your employment history. I have been a journalist, a political campaign worker, and most importantly, a community volunteer. I sit on the board of Any Baby Can, and of Temple Beth Shalom, and am Vice President of the Downtown Austin Neighborhood Association, and am Vice Chair of the Pedestrian Advisory Council. I am accustomed to working with a diverse group of people and an experienced in seeking and building consensus, as I helped to do on the City’s Red River Pilot Project. I believe those skills will be crucial in this endeavor.
