Please describe your relevant analytical skills. After studying Operations Research - a form of engineering that specifically uses analytics and statistics to optimize systems, I worked with data and analysis for several years doing performance metrics and process improvement. When working with the state, I have I have used census data and other large datasets to decide where to focus our outreach and other efforts. Finally, as a technical consultant, I worked with some of the off the shelf solutions (Snowflake, Tableau, etc) to process and visualize data.
Please describe your ability to be impartial. As a trained engineer and analyst, I have been trained to rely on data to tell a story rather than relying on a what I, or anyone else, wants the story to be. I feel that my work as an administrator of a local group has helped me with this. We often have several opinions on how to address a particular situation; my approach stands out because I focus on the rules and intention, and give a recommendation based on whether an approach will meet that intention.
Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. Austin is a unique place where we have always had a juxtaposition of cultures and lifestyles. It used to be the "hippies" and the "cowboys" which gave us our unique culture, and now it is the technology and government. All of this takes place over a backdrop of a rich cultural heritage that we should all be proud of. I have spent much of my time participating in organizations that serve to lift the stories of women, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. I would be proud to represent these voices on the committee in a fair and impartial way.

I am very excited to be eligible to apply for this important work. I wanted to apply before, but I had just moved home from Washington DC and was not yet eligible. I have previously served on a commission to address the technical divide in Austin and received positive feedback on my work. Currently, I am active in the Junior League and moderate two neighborhood groups.
