Please describe your relevant analytical skills. As a trained architect, I love finding solutions to the most complex problems. Often times our solutions are determined through different diagrams processes and representations in addition to different types of mapping.
Please describe your ability to be impartial. I am one of 6 kids (5th!) so since I was young I learned that unless you wanted to involve our parents, we had to be fair to each other so someone else wouldn't have to escalate the situation up (cutting a candy bar precisely in half). Since then, I have been interested in creating a level playing field to make sure every voter's voice is heard.
Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. I have lived in Austin since 2012 after being here for one year in 2005/06. I fell in love with the city that first year but didn't really get to appreciate it until I moved back in 2012. As an architect, our clients live all over the city. It was so fun exploring each neighborhood each time a new project came into the office. So many little pockets to explore and cultivate, from Clarksville to Rosedale and the rolling hills of Mt Bonnell. Love watching how we grow.
Please provide your employment history. I have worked for four residential firms in Austin until branching off on my own as a new branch of an existing company with a very well-built brand, Drophouse Design. Previous employers include Jay Corder Architect, Brian Dillard Architecture, Webber + Studio, and Mark Odom Studio. At each firm, we design mostly single family residential projects though I did work on a few multi-family and other commercial projects including a restaurant and tiny-homes community.
Please provide any other information you wish to be considered during the selection of the most qualified applicants for the Commission. I want to participate in our community and just not have found the right outlet, yet. This seems like an excellent gateway into the how we work as a community, together, to make sure we are all represented.
