Please describe your relevant analytical skills. I developed my analytical skill while serving in the military. I acquired numerous skilled techniques essential for different types of jobs in a variety of fields.
Please describe your ability to be impartial. When dealing with the workforce, the organization's policy and procedure would aid without any outside influence, which would remain impartial regardless of the circumstance.
Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. I have noticed the difference in Austin demographics, but the geography is still beautiful with constant landscape changes. The City of Austin was not diverse and a very segregated city. Austin diversity changed once the City Council changed in representing ten geographic districts. The population grew, and its demographics changed with an emphasis on races and its disparities in social issues.
Please provide your employment history. I am retired, but I have completed obtaining my Bachelor's Degree to satisfied my education to validate my task skills. I was in the Gutherie Job Corps in Oklahoma for education and vocational training. I was in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era 1971-1981 as a medical corpsman. I worked the Austin and Hays County hospitals as a health unit coordinator (unit clerk), emergency room/outpatient registration coordinator, and Physician Office and San Marcos ISD as a certified nurse's assistant certified medical assistant, and medical office clerk. I worked and retired as a tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service in 2015. I also joined the AmeriCorps after graduating from Texas State University in 2017, until 2018. I worked the Travis County Election as a polls worker and Election Judge in March 2020. I volunteer for numerous Austin services, until COVID19.
Please provide any other information you wish to be considered during the selection of the most qualified applicants for the Commission. Volunteering is one of the best ways to gain valuable experience while helping people in need. I lived in Austin since my discharge from the US Army in 1981. I have worked and participated in numerous service organizations and supported their causes. Job Corps for vocational training; AmeriCorps volunteer serving the community and helping with community needs; US Army for land warfare service. Retirement I was working on homelessness, food insecurity, and mental health in Austin. I will be working the 2020 Census, once the COVID19 and the government are assured of the enumerators' safety.
