Please describe your relevant analytical skills. I worked as a TX Certified Hospital Pharmacy IV Technician. Once a week (on my day off), I was a Substitute Science Teacher for A.I.S.D.. It taught me a lot about the future voting citizens in Austin. As a City of Austin employee over for 3 years, I was also a hospital employee Union Rep. & a Board member of AFSCME for City, County & State workers.
Please describe your ability to be impartial. As a Union Rep. for employees at Brackenridge Hospital, I often was a part of an employee's job related grivences in formal meetings with hospital staff. As a Board member AFSCME for over 3 years. it was also my duty to make major administrative decisions in that Union for City, County & State employees. After 2 back surgeries, I became a dis-abled employee in 2009.
Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. I have lived in 4 different & diverse States *that I have always compared to Austin*. I was born & grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. until I was 14. At 14 we moved to Detroit, MI., where I lived until attending college at Tuskegee University in AL. & graduating in 1977. After 4 years in Detroit, I moved to Austin in November 1981, where I have lived continuously for the longest part of my life.
Please provide your employment history. TX Certified Hospital Pharmacy Tech (Brackenridge Hosp. & City of Austin) Substitute Teacher part-time (A.I.S.D.) TX Certified Hospital Pharmacy IV Tech (St. Davids Hosp.) Rental Specialist "part-time" (Blackland CDC)
Please provide any other information you wish to be considered during the selection of the most qualified applicants for the Commission. I have alway been politically active since the early 1980's as a member of AFSCME. I have always stressed to most people, that the act of voting is a political obligation of every citizen in all local, state & national elections at all times. No election to too minor not to vote. If you don't vote, then don't complain.
