Please describe your relevant analytical skills. My entire career has been spent investing in analytical skills, from my days as a newspaper reporter pouring over statistical data and documents -- from the CDC, Department of Homeland Security, water districts, schools or any other public entity -- and as I transitioned to software engineering these skills were only strengthened. My day to day is about identifying issues, identifying factors that contribute to those issues, brainstorming potential solutions, and finding the best solution.
Please describe your ability to be impartial. Referencing my experience as a journalist, and as well as an engineer, whether I like the people or the product, the work has to get done to benefit other people. There were plenty of folks I did not like, or who were racists or misogynists, or terrible people that I interviewed as a reporter, but none of those facts ever made it into my stories because the reasons that brought them to my attention were never their personal failings. Similarly, as an engineer I often work for people I do not like or respect, but my focus is on functionality and end users, CEOs be damned.
Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. I've always loved south Austin because of the Mexican community here, one that is sadly starting to evaporate as rising housing prices and gentrification take hold. That said, over the nearly 15 years I've spent in and out of Austin, it's been exciting to see how diversity has changed the city.
Please provide your employment history. I don't understand this question, am I providing employment history or describing my skills? I don't know what to write here. React Native Lead Engineer, Artistory, 9/19-present React Native Lead Engineer, musx, 5/17-3/20 React Engineer, curb, 3/16-2/17 Associate Consultant, catapult, 4/15-3/16
