Please describe your relevant analytical skills. I research and write community-based policy histories, for example: Fevered Measures: Public Health and Race at the Texas-Mexico Border, 1848-1942: https://www.dukeupress.edu/fevered-measures/?viewby=title and my co-edited book, Precarious Prescriptions: Contested Histories of Race and Health in North America: http://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/precarious-prescriptions I use ARCGIS for community projects. Please describe your ability to be impartial. I teach. I weigh competing forms of evidence. I apply agreed on frameworks to interpret conflicting forms of evidence. It is a joy to discuss rubrics and then apply them.
Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. My kid goes to class and ethnically diverse Dawson elementary. I teach in racially and ethnically diverse Texas State. My soccer team includes (I assume) undocumented construction workers and the recently retired CFO of AMD. I write on ethnic diversity.
Please provide your employment history. I have to drive through the richest and poorest parts of Austin (Downtown, Travis Heights, Mabel Davis Park, Onion Creek) to get around. I see the impact of political lines every day. Part of my work as faculty member is to sit in meetings for democratic governance. This fits within that bailiwick.
