Please describe your relevant analytical skills. I'm a geospatial analyst, with over 20 years of daily geographic information systems (GIS) use in addition to training in spatial statistical methods, SQL, and Python.
Please describe your ability to be impartial. As a geographic information scientist, I consider it critical to my professional and personal integrity to render accurate decisions based on the best available data. Tilting the playing field to created a desired result would be a betrayal of my belief that while scientists should be strong advocates, their science should be valid independent of viewpoint.
Please describe your appreciation for the City of Austin's diverse demographics and geography. The geologic split in our city between hill country and prairie make it physically beautiful, and a wonderful place to live that has attracted so many people from around the US and world. Our history, both remarkable and regrettable, has played a primary role in determining who lives where. While the cause was profoundly unjust, the resilience of oppressed people forged vibrant communities that make Austin an even more amazing place to live and work. The people who make up these communities deserve representation even as we work to remedy the old wrongs.

Please provide any other information you wish to be considered during the selection of the most qualified applicants for the Commission. I'm a longtime, not-quite-native Austinite living in an outlying portion of town that is rapidly becoming a new focal point of local interest. While a white, cis, straight man may not seem to bring much diversity on paper, my circle is dazzlingly diverse on every axis, and understanding their experiences is a vital part of my love for this city.
